With others artists of Art Studio Walter Raleigh Quarter, we are having a group exhibition in Cork Airport which will be opening on the 1st of June and will run until the 30th June 2018. Our exhibition takes its inspiration from a quote by the late Claud Cockburn who noted that ‘Youghal stands at a slight angle to the universe’. Cockburn lived the historic Myrtle Grove, once home to Sir Walter Raleigh and just a stones throw from The Raleigh Quarter Studios’. Our exhibition will feature five unique views of Youghal from five very different artists.
Our aim is to promote and encourage tourism to the town of Youghal by showcasing its beauty and history from surprising and alternative viewpoints. As its title suggests this exhibition will show Youghal with all its quirks and eccentricities, from ‘a slight angle to the universe’. We believe that the location of Cork Airport will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase Youghal as tourists arrive. Over 70,000 people will pass through the airport in June providing us with a fantastic marketing platform at the point of entry.
